katherine perrott

Originally from Melbourne, I moved to Tasmania 8 years ago to take up a residency at the Salamanca Art Centre. This opportunity gave me an exciting chance to explore new landscapes and possibilities. I thoroughly enjoy witnessing the changing seasons and colours and the dramatic yet vulnerable land that I inhabit.
I endeavour to conjure up paintings which have a sense of the romantic and the heroic and an epic sense of transformation. I believe this transformative process is important. Through the making of art, my own personal relationship with nature and myth grows and deepens. The magic of nature offers an encounter with both lyrical beauty and an unpredictable powerful force. I believe it is the tension between what is familiar and the unknown that widens our consciousness and our understanding of the world around us.
